How Responsive Web Design is Helpful For Small Businesses

Of course, when you access a page from your laptop, due to the wide screen you will be able to see the whole website without too much up and down scrolling.

However, when you are using a tablet or Smartphone, you will notice that in order to view a webpage, you will have to do a lot of scrolling and zooming, so you can view what interests you the most. This problem however, is ancient history, since the Responsive Web Design came into the picture not long ago, it simply revolutionized how people get to view their favorite web pages without the extra trouble of always scrolling. So, basically when for instance you want to view a certain web page that owns the “responsive” feature, the page itself will fit your screen perfectly without having to zoom in or out.

So far, this feature seems like a very good idea, especially for small businesses, since at least in America 45% of the people own a smart phone and the number is still growing. Now, there are a lot of opinions on this subject, some of them not so flattering, but most people seem to think it was an ingenious idea.

A question also rises on the SEO part. There have been many discussions over the internet how the responsive web design may “kill” your SEO, it may happen but only if you make changes in your URL`s, so basically responsive design will most of the time be more of a improvement to SEO rather than making the situation worse. The best thing you can do for your web page is to use Responsive Design Client Adaptation, choosing separate URL`s or use a Dynamic Server Adaptation.

Also, there are other potential issues like : speed or graphics . On a laptop, an average site may take seconds to load even if the website shows a lot of coloring and graphics, the smart phone on the other hand will face a big problem since not all Smartphones are that smart or fast, so the loading might take a while. It is best not to overload your site with a lot of graphs, since not everyone would be as patient to wait longer for the site to load. People nowadays are used to getting things done fast, and browsing is one of them.

As a conclusion, responsive web design will prove to be a good practical asset for your website, the secret is to avoid it is flawed, because basically anything has something that won`t do that well or respond as well.
So, is Responsive Web Design helpful for Small Businesses? Yes it is.
